Any little girl will agree that it is fun to change the clothes on her soft, adorable, vanilla-scented Corolle baby doll. Why not accessorize with a cute headband? The following are easy and inexpensive directions to sew a decorative headband for your favorite little doll to fashion on her favorite little doll:
Materials:
- 9 inches of ¼-inch elastic
- Safety pin
- Fabric of your choice measuring 4 inches X 15 inches
Directions:
- Cut and press the fabric of your choice measuring 4 inches X 15 inches.
- Fold in and press ½ inch along one length of the rectangle. Fold in and press 1 inch
along the opposite length of the rectangle. - With the shorter ½-inch side overlapping the longer 1-inch side, create another 1-inch fold. Press and pin in place. Checkpoint: You should now have a band that is 1 ½ inches X 15 inches.
- Sew this in place right along the edge of the overlapping fold. Sew another seam parallel to the first seam, allowing approximately ½ inch in between the two seams. This forms a casing to hold the elastic.
- With a safety pin secured at one end, insert the elastic into the casing of the headband and pull it through to the other end. Sew to secure at both ends. Tip: As I am pulling the elastic through the casing, I like to stop and secure the first end before I finish pulling the elastic all the way through. I also carefully remove the safety pin and use it to temporarily hold the elastic in place about 1 inch away from the second end before I sew it in place. These steps will help to prevent you from "losing" the elastic inside the casing.
- Sew both ends together to form a circle.
- Try the headband on your baby doll, and you are finished!
